Beaded House/Home

A few months ago (I’m not so good at getting round to posting my creations) I made this beaded house for a friend’s birthday.

For the house shape, I used the gingerbread house from the Threadabead company (I love this company, they have some  amazing beading patterns and kits that you can buy – check them out). I transferred the house pattern to paper and designed each side of the house, so that my pal had her own unique mini home. That’s her and her puppa going out for a walk.

I certainly learned somethings from this. I need to use beads with more contrast next time, so that the picture stands out more. You can see a video clip of this house on my Instagram.

My first beaded bead design

Chloe’s disco bead workshop was the first time I had worked with superduo beads. I hadn’t considered using them before but they were really fun to play with and the workshop gave me the push I needed to design some of my own beads using superduo/twin beads.

In the first instance I tried making variations of Chloe’s disco beads. I had had the idea at the workshop and sat down when I got home with a supply of 2 hole beads and had a go. Yeah…they didn’t work, a definite reinforcement of the phrase  “it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

So it was time to try something of my own. I played around with various beads and threads until I saw the start of something I liked. I added to this design and tweaked until it worked and I made this lantern bead.

Now to work on variations of the design and see what can be done with them:)

Geeky Reorganising

There’s nothing like a good reorg of that craft room! I love it. Sometimes I get more excited about reorganising than creating. It helps when your other half gives you fantastic Star Wars storage pots for you to keep stuff in.

All done – sooo exciting!
